In today's exhibition game against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Yankees ended up losing 2-0 (read HERE) and lost Curtis Granderson for 10 weeks after getting hit and fracturing his forearm. Tough break no doubt for the Yankees who were in the mist of an experiment of having Brett Gardner to move to centerfield and Curtis moving to left. Is this earth shattering? Not exactly.

So you're asking... now what? Many ideas are floating around. The most likely scenario would be for the Yanks to use Juan Rivera and/or Matt Diaz. Others are calling for the Yankees to look to a guy like Slade Heathcott, a kid with a lot of buzz surrounding him right now. In fact, the New York Post just did a nice profile on the kid. Read about that HERE.
Another scenario, which was suggested by Mark Townsend of Big League Stew, HERE, was that maybe the Yankees would explore options like free agents Johnny Damon or Bobby Abreu. I kind of find that to be silly, but it's actually not too far fetched. The Yanks are playing cheap right now and they could probably get those guys for next to nothing and the fans loved them while they were in the Bronx.
Whatever the case, it stinks but not the end of the world. True, I hate seeing dudes getting hurt in Spring Training just about as much as I hate seeing them get hurt in the World Baseball Classic or the All-Star Game. All we can do now is wait and see how long it really takes and what the Yankees will do about their hole. The truth is... if you're gonna fracture a forearm... do it in the Spring and not the World Series.
