THE TALE OF 3 (FORMER) YANKEES

Wondering what's happening with Johnny Damon, Bobby Abreu and Hideki Matsui? I do, check it out:

Johnny Damon: Damon signed late with the Cleveland Indians this year after Scott Boras told every team in Major League Baseball his client was worth $5 million for 1 year.  Well, so much for that, Damon didn't have a spring training and not only that, he ended up signing with the Indians for $1.25 million.  Look, my take on Damon is simple, he should have asked for $1 million in the first place and this way he would have been signed in February and training his old body early on. Instead, he showed up to the party late, because his agent was greedy and now news out of Cleveland is he has been Designated for Assignment by the Indians.  Read HERE.  In .207 at bats, Damon was batting .224 with 4 home runs.  What's next? Retirement?
Bobby Abreu:  It was clear to me that once Shane Victorino came to Los Angeles, there would be no room for Bobby Abreu, read HERE. He was Designated for Assignment. Abreu had a horrible season with the Angels and when he came to the Dodgers, he was shining a bit, buteven that didn't last. With the Dodgers, Bobby batted .251 with 2 home runs.

Hideki Matsui: Matsui requested a release from the Tampa Bay Rays after he was designated for assignment. Read HERE.  While Matsui was with the Rays he only batted .147 with 2 homeruns in 95 At Bats.  It wasn't a very nice ended for the man that all of us fell in love with in the Bronx.  Capital New York has a great piece about Matsui by Howard Megdal titled Remember Hideki Matsui as he was in the Bronx. Believe me, I definitely will.
