BYB NEEDS 1 MORE WRITER...TIME TO SHINE

Last night Frank Gentry and Ike Dimitriadis both became writers for Bleeding Yankee Blue. Yes, it's true, I was only looking for 1 writer in last night's contest, but I like both of their writing styles and I was interested in both pieces, so, I went for it, and here we are today, Ike and Frank work with us now. Congrats guys!

For anyone who missed it, here are their pieces:

CC DOMINATES & THE YANKS KEEP WINNING

THE ROAR OF THE YANKEE ACE IS BACK IN THE BRONX

To everyone who entered, thank you. But it doesn't here. Today is a 1:05pm game. BYB is still looking for 1 more writer. If you win, your recap will be posted here. Once you are posted, you will be notified and then, you, Frank and Ike will work out a schedule for doing the recaps during the week until the end of the regular season.

So you’re reading this and you’re thinking “What can you offer me BYB?” I can offer you a Bleedingyankeeblue.com shirt for starters. Any money we generate here will go into a pot and will be redistributed into future merchandise for a future charity we choose, much like we’ve done for High Socks for Hope this year. Next year, we plan on doing it again with another product and another charity.

But it’s not only the shirt, you can a chance to be published. If you’re looking to break into the business, and you want to be a writer and you need a body of work, you will have one here. I will also be a reference for you. You also could have a future gig here. After the season ends, if you are interested in staying on with BYB and we like what you’re providing, we could bring you aboard.

Look, this gig is a grind. I have a full life outside of this, but I made a promise to a few BYB readers back when we didn’t get read at all… I said as long as this stays fun,you have a family at BYB. You can wake up, have your coffee and see what we're talked about for the day. We bring you news, we make you smile. We like providing our experiences, our flair and our fun with you. Remember, we don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we do believe our opinion matters.

So, back to the writing gig…if you’re interested, the contest is simple, continuing today, take it seriously, pretend you have a deadline for BYB. The rules are simple:
  • Watch the game
  • Write a recap and send it to me after the game is complete
  • If I post your work,you win.
The process is simple, send a recap with some of the notes from that game, be specific but do NOT be wordy. Make it conversational, not boring. Include pop culture if you can but don’t force it. At the end, give the final score, and most of all, have fun with it. If it’s your recap that goes up after tonight's game, you win and if MY recap goes up tonight, a new contest starts tomorrow and we try again. Once the 1st winner is chosen, we will be looking for a second writer and the process starts all over. Once both writers are chosen, we'll make a schedule.
  • Submit your work to Bleednyankeeblu@gmail.com.
  • In the subject, write RECAP WRITING CONTEST.
  • After your recap, write your name or “pen” name and an emailwhere I can reach you.
Again, if your recap goes up, you win and you will then bethrown into the duties of a BYB writer…oh what a world it is!

Good luck and have fun with this.
