WHY THE YANKEES HAVE THEIR EYE ON THE PRIZE

Big win tonight for the Yankees and it was important to get off on the right foot tonight. They did...that's my team...that's my New York Yankees.

First off, let's start at the end. David Robertson... damn I'm so impressed with this guy! 2 strikeouts and a save tonight. You have to love Houdini.  2 more strikeouts and that's 2 more bucks from Bleeding Yankee Blue that go in the pot for High Socks for Hope.  Just keep racking them up DRob, you're the best!

Derek Jeter had 1 more hit tonight, and his average sits at .392.  Keep it up big man, you impress me more and more every day.
The big hits came from Raul Ibanez, 2 hits, both homers and 3 RBIs. Curtis Granderson also cranked one out for his 10th of the season.  Mark Teixeira doubled in the 8th to score Alex Rodriguez and that's all we needed... Love it.
Ivan Nova squared off against James Shields tonight and Nova got the win.  7 innings, 6 hits and 2 runs and struck out 8. Nova's 4-1 on the season.  Damn, you have to love that.

The only flaw tonight was a wild pitch from Rafael Soriano that allowed the Rays run to score, but that was it.  I don't even fault Soriano, it happens sometimes...plus, we didn't lose the game.

Final Score: Yankees 5 - Rays 3.

The Yankees have their eye on the prize... why? Because no matter what happens, they know they have a job to do... to win as many games as they can and to win #28 for all of Yankeeland.  I kinda like that goal.
