WHY THE KEY TO THE YANKEES ENERGY IS SWISHER

The Yankees won Sunday in the final game of the 4 game series and there was a different energy in that clubhouse… it had nothing to do with the previous 3 games and everything to do with Nick Swisher returning to the lineup. I believe that...read HERE.

Many outside of Yankeeland find Nick Swisher to be annoying, a clown and some are annoyed by his bat, after all, he’ll beat you with it, he’s got the power! But the energy of Nick Swisher is one of the keys to the Yankees winning, I believe that.  He’s a positive force for the Yanks... the Bronx Elvis as I refer to him, one of the most popular Yankees in such a short amount of time. The guy never seems to slow down and when he’s in the lineup, the rest of the team appears pumped.

I’ve stated it before and I will now, Nick Swisher may have a monster year in pinstripes and if that happens, you can’t expect the Yankees to be able to retain him on the cheap, especially if the Yanks want to try and keep the payroll at $189 Million, read HERE.  It’s almost unfair to Nick who deserves to go out, test the free agent market and see what he can get for his energy and talent.  Nick Swisher has never been a free agent. He started out with the Athletics, was traded to the Chicago White Sox and then traded to the Yankees.  To deny him a potential big pay day would just be wrong.  That being said, if 2012 becomes a dud for Swish, would the Yankees throw 1 year at him and still be able to keep the salary low just to keep him the Yankees' right field? It would keep the energy in the clubhouse lively, plus, he’s talented and loved in New York.

I’m not gonna lie, not having Swish in the lineup provided a different vibe.  We looked stale.  Sure, guys like Derek Jeter is doing the impossible right now and naturally the others need to follow, but it’s the energy that Swisher provides that I believe is the key, not only for the Yankees, but any ball club.  If the vibe is alive, the team in turn will come alive.  It’s subtle, but it’s the difference.  Nick’s definitely the difference in that Yankee clubhouse…no doubt in my mind.
