WILL VALENTINE MAKE IT THROUGH THE SEASON?

We all know the season is way to young to start making predictions on where the Yankees will finish or how the AL East will shape up. That being said, there is one prediction I do want to make and am comfortable making at this point of the season; Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine will not keep his job for the entire year.

Listen, I know teams like the Yankees and Red Sox (nowadays) just don't can their managers like it's going out of style. Today, many managers are being paid millions of dollars. So kicking them to the curb because they make a couple idiotic statements is just not a normal reaction by front offices. But, I think the "new and improved" Red Sox may be willing to eat Valentine's salary come mid July if he continues to throw his own players under the bus and his team is .500 or less. It just seems like it's a matter of time before Valentine takes his shots at the front office and ownership and I think once that happens he might as well pack his bags.

You know, I don't always agree with the moves Joe Girardi makes. I am one of the fans who thinks he needs to loosen up a bit and throw his handy-dandy-notebook out the window sometimes. But one thing I don't think he gets enough credit for is the way he treats his players. Unlike Valentine, you will never hear Girardi question one of his players mental and physical toughness, especially in the press. Nor will you hear players take to the mic and question Girardi's motives or character. Even last year during "Posada-gate" you never heard Girardi or Jorge Posada question each other's character. Sure there were some angry words said and the tension was as thick as fog at times, but not once did you hear Girardi question Posada's character. In fact, Girardi went out of his way to praise Jorge for being such a passionate player. And the two handled the situation after all was said and done with dignity and class!

Nobody enjoys watching the Red Sox implode from the inside-out more than me. The more Valentine talks the happier I am! And look, maybe the Red Sox turn it around and start to play some great baseball and Valentine keeps his mouth shut and Red Sox Nation is happy as a clam. But, something tells me that is not going to happen. Something tells me that Valentine maybe sitting in the TBS broadcast booth come October, or maybe sooner...that's just my take. What do you think?

Look for Casey's rant on Bobby V tonight or tomorrow. No doubt he'll have plenty more to say about this unusual dude.
