OPENING DAY: A CHAMPIONSHIP IS COMING HOME TO THE BRONX

The New York Yankees are the most decorated franchise in baseball. Many of us grew up rooting for our team and it’s rich history and while some of you joined the party late, you’re still Yankee fans just the same. We all have a favorite but we root for all of our guys no matter what.

Championships are what we long for and we’ve been trained by the Boss himself for many years, and even now, even though he's gone, we still feel that way. It's just apart of us as fans of the pinstripes.

So, when we see our guys run out on the field in Tampa today, understand that today is the beginning of what will be our Quest for 28 in 2012. It’s important to the Yankees, it’s important to baseball, but it’s more than that... It’s most important to the fans... us Yankee fans... who spend our hard earned money to see our Yankees play...and win. Sure, growing up in Little League, we're taught that “everybody wins.” But that's not the real world. Everybody certainly does not win. Champions win. If you’re like me and grew up reading the Steinbrenner handbook, you know that there is only 1 winner. Many times, it’s the New York Yankees. It’s Pride... it's tradition and it's pure blood and guts that translates into 25 guys that act as 1, not individuals. They're a team, a damn good team and when they stand on the foul line for the National Anthem, I will get chills like I've always gotten chills since I was a little boy watching guys like Don Mattingly, Ron Guidry and Reggie Jackson. It's never changed for me. After that, you know what’s coming...baseball that counts...Opening day. It's the first game of the season, and with it for us comes the highest standard of baseball greatness, the New York Yankees.

This video below is exclusive to Bleeding Yankee Blue and hopefully on this Opening Day, April 6th, you’ll pass this post to a friend, share it and get pumped.

It’s Go time Ladies and Gentlemen. And don't forget, starting today and ending on the last day of the season Bleeding Yankee Blue is teaming up with High Socks for Hope, David and Erin Robertson’s foundation. Read HERE. We have pledged to raise money and assist in aiding the people of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, David Robertson’s hometown, who had their homes and lives torn apart by deadly storms on April 27, 2011. We asked ourselves at BYB, what can we do? And we decided it was time to give back. And you can too...

It takes a moment; Look for Mikey’s Dad on the left side and click BUY NOW or send a check to BYB’s P.O. Box if you choose not to use Paypal.

$1 of your Bleedingyankeeblue.com shirt purchase will go into a collection and at the end of the season we will present a check to High Socks for Hope. But that’s not all... we at BYB will also donate $1 of our own money for every strikeout David Robertson gets this season. It may not be much, but that’s not the point... the point is we’re trying to do the right thing and that includes all of us. So please buy Bleedingyankeeblue.com shirts and help a great cause!
