WHY THE YANKEES FELL TO THE BLUE JAYS

The Yankees haven’t lost a game since March 18 to the Orioles, but tonight the Yanks fell to the Blue Jays 4-3 despite a solid start by CC Sabathia.

CC Sabathia went 6 innings, allowed 3 runs on six hits and five strikeouts without walking a batter. CC struggled the first four innings by allowing his three runs to score, but he settled down with his fastball command the final two innings to pick up the quality start. Following Sabathia were David Robertson, Cesar Cabral, and Clay Rapada. Both Robertson and Rapada pitched scoreless frames while Cabral gave up an un-earned run in the 8th. Kyle Drabek, the opposing starter, went five innings allowing five hits, no runs on five strikeouts and two walks.

The Yankees scored all of their runs in the late innings with Brett Gardner, Eduardo Nunez, and Justin Maxwell each driving in a run. Gardy drove his run in the seventh while Nunez and Maxwell—who made up for an error in the 8th which kept the Jays inning alive before their fourth run came across to score—drove in runs in the ninth.

The Yankees will be back at it hoping to start a new win streak on Wednesday against the Braves at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex.
