ROBINSON CANO: REVIEWING OUR PROJECTIONS

  • Projected: .331 Avg, 35 Hrs, 120 RBI
  • 2011: .302 Avg, 28 Hrs, 118 RBI
At the beginning of the season we projected Cano to have an MVP caliber season. Although he didn't quite reach the numbers we thought he'd get, especially in homers and batting average, he's still in the running for MVP and he's had a great season nonetheless. He's been great for the Yankees his last three seasons, and he's matured as a hitter. In his last two seasons he's hit .319 (103 for 322) with runners in scoring position, whereas from his rookie season in 2005 through the 2009 season he hit .258 (203 for 784) with RISP. Also, he's hit much better in the postseason as well. He's hit .333 (19 for 57) with six homers and 15 RBI in his last 14 postseason games dating back to last year's ALDS against the Minnesota Twins. Cano has developed into quite a player for the Yankees, and is slowly but surely become the face of the Yankees as time goes on, and it's been very fun to watch.
