CHOOSE THE 2011 MVP: GRANDERSON OR CANO?

Curtis Granderson had a terrific season, there’s no denying it and while his average was lower than anyone wanted, he had a career high 41 home runs and ran a hell of a lot more than he had in his first season on the Yankees. It’s about comfort I suspect, that and swing mechanics, something Kevin Long fixed in the September streak of 2010 and it stuck with Granderson all year. These are Granderson’s numbers this season:

.262 AVG / 41 HR / 119 RBI / 25 SB / 136 R / .364 OBP

Robinson Cano snuck in there having yet another terrific season, batting over.300, hitting homers and collecting RBI's nonstop. Another big part of Cano’s game is he’s clutch. Last year Robinson Cano missed a shot at the MVP because he was against some stiff competition. Josh Hamilton and Miguel Cabrera were awesome and Hamilton ultimately won.

This year, I believe Cano has a very good shot. Infact for most of the season I suggested Curtis Granderson should be the MVP, but because of that low average of .262, I may need to rethink that. Believe me, it’s a tough call.

.302 AVG / 28 HR / 118 RBI / 8 SB / 104 R / .349 OBP
