THE YANKEES CODDLING OF JUDGE WILL COST THEM THE PLAYOFFS!

Sunday's series finale against the Orioles was one of the biggest games of the season, and Aaron Judge was not in the lineup. There's still a chance for the last Wild Card spot and the Yankees have benched their captain after coming off the Injured List and playing two games. PLEASE, someone make it make sense!

But no one can, because it is the Yankees. Hal Steinbrenner doesn't know what the hell he is doing and is only "confused" by why fans are so unhappy. Then there is Brian Cashman who is the one calling the shots and really telling Aaron Boone how to make the daily lineup. Then there is Boone who is really good for nothing and just shouldn't have a job. I just can't take it anymore!

The Yankees have 13 games in a row, so I understand the desire to rest Aaron Judge with the Astros and Rays coming up but yesterday was a tough game to lose with the Yankees in reach of being just 2 games back in the loss column of the Astros. Unless there is a new injury, or his toe gets worse we need him in there EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. We've missed him for two months and we need him now more than ever. We need the combination of guys that gives us the best chance to win....and that means Judge. Period! 

But nooooo, it sounds like Baboonie already has his mind made up and plans to play Judge in 10 of 13 games, read more HERE. I can understand not wanting him to play every game in the outfield but why not play him ALL of the games and just throw in some DH time? Isn't that the beauty of the position? He can still participate with his bat in the lineup everyday where it is needed the most. By Baboonie benching Judge yesterday, he essentially conceded the series to the Orioles and is playing with a hope and a prayer for better results against the Rays or the Astros. Even if Luis Severino would've pitched the game of his life yesterday, a lineup without Judge was a terrible mistake. This team is ridiculous! This isn't real baseball and it's NOT how you win.

Judge should've been a DH yesterday, plain and simple. There is nothing to debate. If he can't play three days in a row with two of those being at DH then the Yankees are just risking further damage to Judge's toe and he shouldn't be playing. Why take him off the Injured List? 

YAY Judge is back....but without him in the lineup the Yankees are NOT back! Baboonie and Cashman don't understand that and never will and I am sick and tired of it.

WILL JUDGE'S POSITIVITY BE ENOUGH TO TURN THIS YANKEE SEASON AROUND?

I love Aaron Judge. He brings incredible energy to this team. But with the Yankees deep in the hole of the AL East basement and this being their last chance to play the Orioles this season, it seems like Judge's impact won't make a lick of a difference in the long run. Judge brings back positivity but it simply won't be enough to get them over the playoff edge.

He rushed his way back with a ligament tear in his right big toe and has quickly erased any concerns about his immediate level of production. Judge stepped into a four-seam fastball from Tyler Wells and crushed it to center field, driving in Kyle Higashioka and helping the Yankees come back from an early deficit," reported The New York Post. 

Apparently Aaron Boone is going to sit Judge for Sunday's game against the O's for cautionary reasons. Seriously. I was worried about him coming back too soon anyway. Now you parade him in like a missionary only to relegate him back to the bench after only two days?

“Obviously as much as there’s urgency for us, we gotta be smart about that,” Boone said. “In talking with Aaron, making sure he’s honest with his feedback about how he’s recovering, how he’s bouncing back, obviously how the toe’s doing, but how everything else is doing as we get him back into the mix hopefully to a point where he’s feeling good and ready to really go every day at some point,” reported The New York Post. Sigh. Whatever.

Besides the Orioles, the Yankees have a rough road ahead of them. They have four games each against the Tampa Bay Rays and the Houston Astros at home. Judge is expected to be in the mix but certainly not everyday. Later this month they also play the Atlanta Braves which is anticipated to be another tough run for the Bombers.

Bottom line, the Yankees appear to be out of options and out of time. They have not been able to string together enough consistent wins. Their bats go quiet every few games despite having the best pitcher and Cy Young contender Gerrit Cole on the hill every five games. They couldn't even score one run with Cole on the mound Friday even with Judge in the lineup. Not sure how they are expected to do anything special for the rest of the season.

I love the positivity Judge brings - the spark, the energy. But it is just not enough for the 2023 Yankees. Hopefully, the home office can make some serious changes in the clubhouse leadership for next season and get things back on track. Right now, the team is an absolute train wreck.

FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING HOLY!

3 Yankees did their jobs last night.  One Yankee manager still has a job for some reason. 

DJ LeMahieu was 2-4 and Aaron Judge was able to walk 3 times in his return, but no one could hit them home. Meanwhile Gerrit Cole was a boss on the mound.  Everyone else were pretty much lifeless.

We need to do better as a team, I suspect we will, but only if we get rid of the manager.

This bum Aaron Boone still has a job.  He says nothing to the press of worth, usually uses talking points to get through it and it really is embarrassing.  The Yankee fan base is getting disgusted as well. Check this out:

The bottom line is Yankee fans are unhappy with this guy, but we love our players, we just need a true leader to lead them.  Hey Hal, are you listening?

JUDGE IS BACK! HOW YOU DOIN'?

Life is good for the moment.  

Look, I'm not expecting 3 homers from Aaron Judge tonight, but I hope to God we didn't rush this guy and he's NOT ready. If that's the case I will be pissed.  That aside, just know that we have Judge back and life for the moment is lovely.

The New York Post writes:

"The Yankees finally have their captain back.

Now comes the verdict on their season.

Aaron Judge was activated off the injured list on Friday in time for a critical series against the division-leading Orioles, with the Yankees hoping to use his return as a springboard for a playoff push.

Oswald Peraza was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move."

I am excited.  I hope things work out for Judge, but more importantly I hope the presence and return of a true leader makes things better for the Yankees who I believe really have a shot! Boone's garbage.

TWO SIGNIFICANT GUYS THAT CAN HELP THE YANKEES DOWN THE STRETCH

The Yankees are not sellers. They were never sellers. The fact that people think they are when they're only 8 games back is ridiculous.  Now look, there is no doubt that many Yankee fans don't see this team making the playoffs this year, and that's fair. They've been stinking up the joint, but that doesn't mean the front office gives up.  It's right about now that Cashman and company have to prove their worth because some of the guys he's picked up have all gotten hurt.  Frankie Montas comes to mind immediately.

If the Yankees can get a nice third baseman and extra outfielder, both with the potential to get on base, that may be all they need to really get over the hump and make the playoffs.  Inside the Pinstripes writes of Jim Bowden's prediction:

Another move that could make sense reportedly is a deal with the Washington Nationals for third baseman Jeimer Candelario and outfielder Lane Thomas...

An impending free agent, Candelario, 29, is having perhaps the best year of his career as he’s slashed .256/.336/.483 with 16 home runs and 52 RBIs....

Thomas, 27, should have represented the Nationals in the All-Star Game as he’s having a breakout season, slashing .293/.341/.486 with 16 homers and 54 RBIs. "

And before you freak out about who we're giving up, the key to this is giving up a few prospects.  Remember, the Yankees can't give up, so they can't afford to give away solid players on their active roster. If they did, they'd be considered sellers, which they are not.

While it may seem strange, it might be the best way to improve our offense (and defense) and have a run.

All this talk about Cody Bellinger and Jack Flaherty is all fine and good, but I suspect doing that would give away more than we want.  Down deep I believe the Yankee front office wants to get the Yankees to the playoffs to say "well we did our job". Right now, Cashman is under a microscope.  Trust me when I tell you, if the Yankees don't make the playoffs, Yankee fans will lose their minds, and they should.  But Hal needs to do more if we miss... he needs to fire Aaron Boone and show Cashman the door.  It hasn't been a very fun season to be a fan.

Let's see what happens next.

YANKEES HAVE A PLAN FOR THE TRADE DEADLINE - FINALLY!

The trade deadline is almost here! It's my favorite time of the year because I like to keep my ear tuned into all of the good rumors. This year hasn't been as exciting for me because the Yankees have severely underperformed, and Aaron Boone is just a terrible and incompetent manager. So it leaves all of us questioning.... what's going to happen now?

Well, we finally have clarity. Yankee brass met earlier in the week to decide what their strategy would be for the trade deadline. Will the Yankees sell? Or will they go "all in" knowing that third Wild Card spot is still in reach?

According to SI.com HERE, the Yankees will be BUYERS and they are targeting an outfielder AND a reliever. It's been rumored HERE that the Yankees have their eye on four potential outfield targets, with Cody Bellinger being the hottest name on the rumor mill. The Cubs are not far off from a Wild Card spot either, so there is no guarantees that he will even be available. That could change quickly though over the weekend. The Yankees are 3 games back of a Wild Card while the Cubs are 4.5 games out. Bellinger certainly has made the most of his free agent season, and his bat could be a nice addition to the Yankee lineup.

But I have been thinking a lot about the Yankee lineup. The team we have on the field is nowhere to be found on the field. The Yankees have the talent just like we discussed yesterday in WHERE'S THE YANKEES RALLY CRY? You can have all the talent in the world on your roster, but if you don't know how to relate to the players and get them to execute then you can't expect to win. At that point, it is time to have the hard honest conversation and start looking at your manager. I'm tired of hearing "well the manager can't get up and swing the bat for a player" and that may be true.... but Boone should be a leader and know how to get into the mindset of his team. Brian Cashman tried to sell us on this idea that he is this great relator and manager.... but he's not managing anything. He's failing.

So honestly, I have to sit and wonder.... even if all baseball miracles happened and the Yankees managed to pick up all of the BEST free agents' money and trade prospects could buy, would it even matter? These new additions would be walking into chaos and then we expect them to save us? It just doesn't work that way. 

No matter what happens at the end of this season, it's time to be honest about what Aaron Boone does not bring to the table. He hasn't delivered and there's nothing that makes me feel optimistic that he can. The only thing I want to see the Yankees SELL....would be Boone. Add Cashman too, because he's no prize either.

WHERE'S THE YANKEES RALLY CRY?

It's pathetic that there is no leader in that Yankee clubhouse to motivate, inspire and rally the troops.  With Aaron Judge in Tampa trying to get right for this team, the idea of a true leader is lost.  Why?

I'm sorry gang, but the team on the field is not the team we have on paper. Or maybe it is, but the guy at the top just doesn't know how to move the chess pieces. Yes... I think that's what it is.  If you can't translate it from paper to the field, there is only one place to look for answers... management.  And not only our unqualified manager, but brass as well.  Yankee brass has continually let this happen year after year.  If I didn't do my job... if you didn't do yours... we would be fired. It's pretty simple.  

We have been up and down emotionally for years based on Boone Bingo and bad press conferences.  What is Aaron Boone's strategy? "Hitting a baseball hard", being "right there" or having a guy "looking good tonight" doesn't equate to wins. It's Aaron Boone fumbling over words, just not knowing what to say to the media.  He's lost, he's struggling... he's no leader.

Without the leader... without the rally cry... you really can't win.  Well, maybe secretly that's what the Steinbrenner family wants.  Maybe the Yankees NOT making the playoffs will make it easier for Hal and company to let guys like Boone go... maybe even Brian Cashman. The truth is, we've heard they are safe too often, but nothing changes EVER. There is no motivation, urgency, nothing.  It appears that golden boy Boone just wants to ride this out.

But maybe we need to lose and not achieve our playoff goal so changes happen. Maybe that's the only way.  I'd hate to see the Yankees miss the playoffs this year.  But in this world that Yankee fans live in now, there is really no reason to be excited, thrilled or willing to even attend a Yankee game.  

Leaders matter and we've had really good ones before. We've had seasoned, confident leaders. In life good leaders have goals, have urgency. Ideas MATTER. But in this new Yankee world of complacency, I am having a hard time understanding where this Yankee team is pulling their fire from? Put it this way; You can be a personal leader all you want, but on a team, you need an entire group to rally with that leader.  Many times that stems from a manager with goals.  A loudmouth motivator that commands respect.  

Let me ask a serious question;  Do you really think for a second that Aaron Boone has respect from these players? Do You? I don't.  If he did, guys like Sean Casey and Andy Pettitte, well respected players in the MLB wouldn't be suddenly inserted in the Yankee clubhouse.  

Boone has no game. Boone has no Rally Cry.  Boone is not a leader.  Yankee fans deserve better.

I guess we need to let this season fail to finally see upper management make changes folks. I guess Steinbrenner can't sack up and fire this guy now. I guess, and this is my opinion... that we need to miss the playoffs for true change to happen.  

It's tough being a fan these days... it really is.  It's tough when you look out at the world, your office space, your team, whatever and see complacency, lack of urgency and the lack of will to make change by showing strength. We lack leaders in this country, but now, drill down to this team... we have no leader in that clubhouse... What is wrong with spineless Aaron Boone? Why can't he command respect from his players? Why does he have no Rally Cry? What is happening?  

I wish I had the answer.  I don't. 

All I DO know is I know the cause.

But things are taking a turn.  The addition of hitting coach Sean Casey will prove significant, and the addition of Andy Pettitte offers hope for Yankee fans everywhere.  It shows a true effort to surround an unqualified manager with smarter, more qualified former players are now in the mix. The Yankees decision making just got better. Pettitte and Casey will help pump up players, offer approach strategy, and hopefully show the fans that Yankee brass is serious about improving this team.  Will it work? I think seeing guys like Casey and Pettitte shows the Yankees are throwing everything at the problem without disrupting the clubhouse with major trades, firings or demotions.  There's no doubt that things are starting to change for the better.  Not we just need everyone to contribute.

That title above is actually a Giancarlo Stanton quote.  The New York Post writes:

"After DJ LeMahieu and Giancarlo Stanton crushed key home runs on Saturday, Anthony Rizzo ended a two-month homerless drought among his four hits on Sunday as the Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the Royals...

They will face a more formidable test Tuesday night in three-time Cy Young winner Justin Verlander, who has posted a 1.74 ERA over his past five starts for the Mets.

“It doesn’t matter who they have going, we have a job to do and we gotta be ourselves and do what we have to do,” Stanton said Sunday. “Good at-bats, tough outs, that’s what builds four-, five, six-run games. … The plan now is for all of us to click at the right time.”

It's simple thinking, but that's the kind of thinking you need to have when you're a ballplayer.  Us fans treat these losses like it's the end of the world. I cannot believe how many times I hear from fans that the Yankees "suck".  Yea, on paper we're better than we're playing, but 9 out is not as bad as saying "last place" and it's a mindset.  I really think the Yankees have a shot this year. I hate thinking this way, but they're only 2.5 out of the wildcard.  My point is, it's not as bad as Yankee fans make it out to be. And the Yankee press has been pretty bad as well. It just plays to the baseball insiders favor, throwing possible trades against the wall... all guesses, but helps their readership.  Everybody calm down.

But what Stanton says is key. All of the Yankee players have to click at the right time.  There are winning streaks, losing streaks, hot streaks and slumps.  We got the worst of all of that recently, but we're turning a corner.  

It's July 25th. Not August 25th. That too is a significant part of it.  We need to be patient, but we need to turn it up now!  It's a hard approach when you think about it.  But I have no doubt that guys like Casey and Pettitte will be influential with this latest winning streak.  The bottom line however is that we just need to keep going.

THIS ANDY PETTITTE ANNOUCEMENT COMES AT THE RIGHT TIME FOR THE YANKEES!

Did the Yankees finally realize that you can't win games with stat geeks calling the shots from behind a computer screen? You need experience from those who also played the game. There's one Yankee great that defines that and he's a fan favorite.

The Yankees and Andy Pettitte have reunited, and I couldn't be happier! It's true, you can check out the news story that broke yesterday HERE. Pettitte is back as a special advisor so Matt Blake isn't losing his job to Andy, but his resume and experience should help give this staff the boost they need. I'd say a career with 256 wins over 18 years is very valuable. His determination and stone-cold stare should also help remind this team about the desire to win. I do miss that stare of his and his swag. There's never been anything like it since.

So I am excited about this move. It's unknown how often Andy will be around the pitching staff considering he and his family live in Houston and are rumored to want to stay there instead of relocating. Regardless, he was spotted with the team this weekend and the timing just couldn't be any better. The Yankees are 8.5 games back of the AL East and fighting for the third and final wild card spot. If they don't secure a wild card spot it will be the first time since 2016 that the Yankees would fail to make the postseason. Andy's 44 postseason games make him uniquely qualified to get the Yankees pitching staff fine-tuned to make that playoff push.

I understand analytics are here to stay, but there is something to be said for experience. Analytics probably won't fix fellow southpaw Nestor Cortes, who looks like a completely different pitcher from last year. However, I do think Andy may be able to get him back on the right track and we need that. Nestor has not been reliable at all, but if anyone can make that positive impact it has to be Andy....not Blake or a stat geek.

We are seeing the Yankees make a slight deviation away from heavy analytics. We saw it with the Yankees firing Dillon Lawson and now bringing in a well-respected Yankee. We all loved Andy Pettitte as a player, including the Yankees. Now the Yankees continue to respect him by bringing in his wisdom to rescue our season.

I love the move, I just hope this isn't too little too late. Welcome home AGAIN, Andy.

BREAKING: WHAT CASHMAN JUST SAID ABOUT AARON BOONE'S JOB

Seriously. The 2023 Yankees are absolutely a situation comedy from the 1980s- Family Ties meets Growing Pains. Maybe it's Silver Spoons with baby Boone getting to keep his job because he is presumably from baseball royalty? Is anyone providing Aaron Boone feedback on his performance appraisal? Does he have to reflect on his goals mid-way through the season? Because guess what? Brian Cashman says it's not Boone's fault that the team he has assembled can't seem to get their act together long enough to do hard things and win consistently. And therefore, his job is safe.

"Cashman still considers Boone an excellent manager and is said not to blame him for the team’s recent struggles. It is extremely difficult to imagine the front office wanting to move on from Boone after the season, even if the Yankees fail to reach the postseason; the one unknown there is what owner Hal Steinbrenner would do in that scenario,"according to Andy Martino of SNY. 

I don't know any scenario that Hal's dad would let this nonsense go on. In George Steinbrenner days, Boone would have been sent packing in 2021, maybe earlier. The team is not fun to watch. Boone sounds like a baby in pre and post-game conferences not to mention during games and it appears that the organization is complacent with "almost" winning.

"Hot mics at the Yankee game on Wednesday caught a fan yelling for the Yankees to fire Aaron Boone and replace him with franchise legend Don Mattingly, who is currently a part of the Blue Jays coaching staff following a prolonged managerial stint with the Marlins," reported WFAN. Although Gio from the Gio and Boomer Show vehemently disagrees. “Don Mattingly is not going to be the manager of the Yankees. I cannot see that happening,” Gio said. “If I’m him, I don’t want that job."

Let's face it. The Yankees have not changed their formula since Derek Jeter retired. In YANKEES MASQUERADING AS A CONTENDER SINCE JETER RETIRED! we dig deeper into the Yankees smoke and mirror masquerades since 2014. It's fair to say that if the Yankees as an organization continue to play these games with fans, they will need more than Stark Insurance to ensure they have enough money to pay their aging players' salaries.

If I came to work day after day and was unable to move the needle in the right the direction linked to my company aligned goals, I would be gone. What makes Boone special? What goals are he achieving? At some point you have to consider that the players follow the instructions given to them through lineup cards, coaches and trainers. Someone needs to take ownership for loss after loss. If we are in a world of continuous growth and improvement, where resources are used to reach and exceed goals, then why is Aaron Boone still the manager of the Yankees now and perhaps in the foreseeable future? Not really sure what else to say but, are you serious, Hal Steinbrenner?

YANKEES WIN & NOW ONLY 8.5 GAMES BACK!

It's called progress.  The Yankees aren't gonna just jump into first place over night, but last night was a significant step.  Look, the Yankees aren't playing very well, this is clear, but one thing they do have is a dymanic fan base that will call them out when they suck.  Enter... us!  But here's the thing... being 30 games out is much worse than 8.5 games out.  Also, saying last place sucks when it comes to our Yankees.  But saying 8.5 games back softens the blow a bit.  The point is, sure the Yankees should be playing better than they are, but it's not the worst scenario this team can be in.  We're actually in a nice spot right now.

That aged horribly. But the half glass full side of me says 9 games out sounds better than last place. One good game could turn this whole thing around. Oh yea and #FireBoone #BYB #Yankees

"Billy McKinney belted a three-run homer and contributed a pair of excellent catches in center field as the Yankees snapped their four-game skid on Friday evening, opening their homestand with a 5-4 victory over the Royals at Yankee Stadium. “I’ve always felt like I could play center,” McKinney said. “I’m not Byron Buxton out there, tracking stuff down, but I think I can play well enough whenever a guy like [Harrison] Bader needs a day. I’m here to help fill in when an opportunity arises.”

“That was impressive. I didn’t know he was a center fielder like that,” said Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt. “I guess that’s his true position now. Two big plays right there and a big swing; it was an all-around night for him. It was fun to watch.”

It's the little things, and what I mean by that is one day at a time, one moment at a time, and "one good game" that can turn the entire thing around.  We are in a better place today than yesterday.  I think that's awesome.

Positivity wins the day. Embrace this win, embrace the McKinney accomplishments last night and let's ride those coat tails.

I'M DONE! IT'S TIME TO SAY BYE BYE BOONIE!

Aaron Boone sucks and I am sick of his presence. It's time to cut the cord and rebuild because Boonie ain't cutting it. He's just a start, in my opinion. Someone has to take the fall and he's the most likely candidate.

Let's face it, the Yankees are going nowhere fast if they are going to continue playing like crap and not hitting and scoring runs. Can they climb back into it? Yeah, but boy do they have one hell of a crater to climb out of and August will be here before we know it. The high school baseball team down the street from me looks better than these soft suckers. Remember when "accountability" was a real thing? I miss those days.

And it's true. Accountability SHOULD matter. Remember when Joe Girardi was fired because he was no longer resonating within the clubhouse? Remember when he wasn't connecting with the younger up and coming Yankees? At least he's led a team to a World Series victory, Boonie has only dreamed of it. Boonie is supposed to be this great manager that connects with his guys and executes whatever Hal Steinbrenner and Brian Cashman want.... right? 

Supposedly, but he's a useless puppet. Isn't the idea to win it all? That's still the Yankee way, right? IT WAS. Even after George passed, that was supposed to be a continued legacy and it ain't working! No one wants to make the logical move though. If the Yankees have all of this talent and they CAN win, why don't they? Where is all of this natural talent? Last time I checked Giancarlo Stanton and his .196 BA isn't going to cut it AND it is NOT the expectation for a so-called superstar. Shouldn't Boonie be able to get in his head and get the best out of Stanton? That's what we were all force fed by the front office! When does Anthony Rizzo finally look like Rizzo and you know.... hit?

If the manager can't do his job, he needs to go and the front office needs to bring in someone else who CAN. The same goes for Brian Cashman. He cannot build a winning team, even with a seemingly endless budget. Both aren't cutting it....so it is time to cut them. It's the most obvious answer to everyone, except Hal.

In June Hal was "confused" as to why fans were so frustrated in the third week of June...well HAL it is the third week in July. Are you still clueless?! If you aren't you would make the necessary moves. That includes firing Baboonie. It's called accountability and that's what the Yankees used to have.

The only thing Baboonie has "won" for the Yankees is last place in the AL East, and NO ONE should be okay with that. Cashman doesn't know how to win or construct a team. Grow a pair, Hal and step up already and do what needs to be done!
