YANKEE WIN EMOTIONAL FOR US ALL

How can you not be romantic about baseball?

When the Yankees win... when any team you love wins... it's the greatest feeling in the world. You can go on being happy. When the Yankees, or your favorite team loses, the world is messed up. I can't tell you how many days my oldest and I were yelling at the TV, not sleeping well. Yankee fans are invested. We want great things, but the Yankees have not been delivering.

Now look, the Yankees have been playing out of their shoes all season. We knew it would calm down. We knew there would be injuries. We knew they couldn't win all 162. But we didn't think they'd suck as bad as they have lately.

Josh Donaldson needed to walk off last night.  Donaldson has been on the wrong side of Yankee hate. Blame age, blame injury, blame it on whatever you want. Donaldson needed to do something.  And when it happened, the fans that were awake were happy finally.

The New York Post writes:

"The win snapped a three-game losing streak and spared the Yankees (73-45) from a sweep by the Rays (62-54), who returned to 10 games back in second place of the AL East.

On a day that began with calling up Oswaldo Cabrera and Estevan Florial for a youthful injection to their lineup, the Yankees won for the third time in their last 14 games and showed signs of rediscovering their mojo.

With Aaron Judge the automatic runner on second base to start the bottom of the 10th, a Gleyber Torres single and an Anthony Rizzo walk against Rays reliever Jalen Beeks loaded the bases for Donaldson, who had been stuck in a 3-for-28 slump. He shot an 0-1 pitch to the opposite field and it landed in the short porch to set off a wild celebration.

“I definitely think that was probably a release of some joy and some frustration over the past couple weeks,” Donaldson said."

At the end of the day, it was a release of joy and frustrations, which begs the bigger question as we wake up from the win hangover this morning. Can we keep it going?

If the Yankees can't win each series, they will have a hell of a time staying consistent in the post season.  We all think they'll make it, but we all don't know if they'll win it right now.  2 months ago I was positive they'd win 120 games, now I'm not sure what will happen. We don't want them squeaking in, we want them going in dominant.  And we hope that this is the beginning of another big run.

Every loss they get knocked down a peg. Teams know this. One game at a time they can knock us down. But the Yankees can't think post season. They need to think the same way... one game at a time.

Last night was huge, but with this team, it shouldn't be about catching up. It needs to be about consistency and that's what we need to get back to.

Last night was emotional. It had to be. But keep feeling that way. Us fans need to, the Yankees need to. We just need to feel it and make the wins happen as we head into September.

Nice job Josh... last night was our rally cry!

Go Yanks!
