YANKEE TRAGEDY: WHAT WILL NEVER BE

Horrible story out of Venezuela and very sad for the Yankee family.  A Yankee prospect has been shot dead in Venezuela.

George King III of the New York Post writes:

"Alexander Figueredo, a 20-year-old lefty pitcher in the Yankees’ minor league system who missed the entire 2016 season while on the suspended/restricted list, was shot and killed on Nov. 27 in his native Venezuela....

According to sources close to the Venezuela baseball scene, Figueredo was shot at a party in Guacara and died of multiple gunshot wounds."

Figueredo was not a top prospect, but as every young player knows, the road is hard and long in baseball and you hope to some day follow your dream of making it to the major leagues.  Figueredo had that same dream, and while there is some critics out there suggesting that he dabbled and was on the suspended list because of it so his chances were slim, that's not what this story is about.  The story about a kid  that will never get to follow his dream at all... because he's dead.

It's tragic, and a very sad report. I just wanted you all to know.

Prayers to the Figueredo family.
