BELTRAN WANTS A ONE YEAR DEAL... CONSIDER IT DONE

(Sept. 3, 2016 - Source: Brandon Wade/Getty Images North America)
Remember when I wrote THAT CARLOS BELTRAN REUNION IS REAL back on November 18th and was specific with what Carlos Beltran would like and what the Yankees would like, and ultimately, it's a perfect fit for a DH?  Don't act like you don't remember... I wrote:

"For 1, the 1 year deal they would like to offer would ultimately not only be it for Beltran and his baseball career, but it's a much cheaper deal than signing Edwin Encarnacion, and, as my source tells me 'Beltran and the Yankees have an understanding that he wants to end his career a New York Yankee.  While the trade to the Rangers was business, ultimately the Yankees know Beltran can help their club as a DH, and in the end, he gets to finish his career in the Bronx.'...

Now, will this deal with Beltran happen?  Ultimately it's about the 2 sides getting together the try and hammer out a deal. But there's a humanity element in this deal, and ultimately, while Beltran won't come SUPER cheap for his services, a one year deal with Carlos works out a helluva lot better than 4 years, $55 million with Edwin..."

Now our buddy Jeff Todd at MLB Trade Rumors adds to this:

"Of note, beyond the interest of the Yankees, is that Holliday is apparently looking for a two-year deal, while Beltran appears to be available for a single-season commitment."

Bingo.

We shall see, but I'm telling you, this is about comfort, familiarity and not spending a fortune on a power bat.  Remember, hitting isn't the problem. What the Yankees really need is a starter or 2 and a closer like Aroldis Chapman... and that's what the Yankees are going into these Winter Meetings with.

Let's see what happens.

Happy Saturday. Basketball starts for my little ones... God help me.
