I'm the first one to admit that I didn't think Mark Teixeira had it anymore. I was wrong.  I am happy for him... but I just can't believe it.  You know who else can't believe it? BYB writer Mike O'Hara.  You know who loves it? I know you know... BYB writer Jeana Bellezza... oh yeah, and Mark Teixeira too.

The first place Yankees won big last night and it had everything to do with Tex.

CC Sabathia was a big help last night as well.  The big lug went 5.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and only 2 runs.  The one negative and a bit surprising was that he only struck out 1.  After that, like clockwork because Andrew Miller was back... the pen shut down the A's the rest of the night.  Miller gave up 2 additional runs... but did his job by getting the save, his 18th on the season.

The Yankee run scoring went like this:

In the second, Didi Gregorius doubled.  Chris Young scored... Didi Gregorius would get out at 3rd.

In the 4th, Mark Teixeira hit a home run, his 21st, and it was a solo shot. Next Jose Pirela sacrificed home a run.

In the 6th, it was Tex again, his 22nd home run.  Then, in the 8th, Stephen Drew put one out as well.  Those are your 5 Yankee runs... and that's a win... thanks to Mark Teixeira and company.

Final: Yankees 5 - Athletics 4
