Sad news for Yankee prospect catcher Luis Torrens. Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports that the kid will need shoulder surgery. Whoa.
Yankees announce that catching prospect Luis Torrens will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder.Well that sucks.

Torrens is 18 years old and is a prospect with incredible potential. As far as background, Hardball Talk writes:
"The 18-year-old Venezuelan catcher has batted just .249/.338/.347 with four home runs in 107 professional games between rookie ball and Low-A, but he’s regarded as a good defender behind the plate with a very strong throwing arm."
Let's hope he comes back and doesn't skip a beat. Get well soon kid.
