THAT'S NOT THE GAME WE WANTED TO LOSE...

But life must go on and that's why there are 162 games, right?

I hate losing to a division rival and let's face it... we were rolling until tonight, weren't we? It's amazing how quickly the media jumps on the fact that the Yankees had a 5 game winning streak going into tonight... they already had us winning the World Series before tonight's game.  In fact, I was perplexed by this ridiculous piece in the New York Times blog HERE, already strategically planning out what happens when the Yankees win. They were suggesting having 2 parades for the Yankee World Champs... one for Alex Rodriguez... and one for the Yankees.  I mean... how ridiculous is this that we're filling pages about hypothecial nothings? This is the New York Times mind you... the paper of record, or at least it was. And now they are doing "Canyon of Hero Scenarios" suggesting the world hates ARod. No Jay Schreiber, only HALF the world hates him, and when it comes to "team", they all stay together, despite Alex and his ego. In the end, they are 1. But that's another story for another time.  In the meantime, the Yankees lost as 1 tonight... oh well.

Hiroki Kuroda got the L tonight for the Yankees. It was a tough one, the Rays are good.  He went 6 innings allowing 9 hits and 7 runs.  He wasn't amazing, but again, this is a hot Rays club, it's bound to happen.  He was followed by Joba Chamberlain who went 2 innings and pitched well, striking out 1.  He didn't give up a run, all were charged to Kuroda.

The Yankee runs went like this...

Alfonso Soriano singled in the first and Brett Gardner scored.  In the 6th, Robinson Cano knocked in Gardy again.  That was the second run and that was the only other run.  The good news is Gardy was 2 for 2 and when he got hit by a pitch in the hand tonight, it appeared to just graze him and nothing more, although, Gardy is having an MRI on his hand tomorrow, read that from Andy McCullough of the Star Ledger.
Stay tuned for that.

Eduardo Nunez was 2-3 tonight. Oh, and Alex Rodriguez? He was 0-4 with a strike out.  He really needs to start contributing here. These are big games... we need the big bopper.

Final: Rays 7 - Yankees 2.

We come back tomorrow and we win the next 2.  That's all we can do.
