NOVA'S BREATHING DOWN HUGHES' NECK

No, this isn't some perverted porn... this is life.  Ivan Nova came out of nowhere today and pitched 7 strong and pretty much said "I'm here, and I want a spot in the rotation."  What was Phil Hughes' response seeing Nova pitch so well? Probably... "Oh Shit."  For Phil Hughes, who has been inconsistent... well... he's about to get pushed out, especially if Nova can keep this up.

Today the Yankees lost, which absolutely sucked, but Nova won with his appearance.  6.2 innings, 7 hits and 3 runs allowed.  He struck out 7.  That's what I like and as long as he continues to do what we know he's capable of, he will stay in my good graces for sure.

You can definitely blame Boone Logan for the loss. It seems as though every time he's in a tight spot, you could pretty much put money on the fact that he will lose the game for you ... today was no different, hence that Rays' 3-1 win. I'd rather have lefty Clay Rapada... just saying.

As far as the Yankee offense, well, we had 7 hits on the day and only 1 run to show for it compared to the Rays 3. The run came when Robinson Cano sacrificed Brett Gardner home in the 1st.  Then we waited for a whole lot of nothing.

Final: Rays 3 - Yankees 1.  Look, the Yankees have a day off tomorrow and then we play the Rangers.  No, they are no walk in the park, but a day off to re-group can do the body good.  We need a rest and we need to re-program ourselves as a team.  I know we can do it.
