An article in the New York Daily News said this: "Major League Baseball could suspend up to 20 players, including Yankees' Alex Rodriguez, and Brewers' Ryan Braun, within the next few weeks for their ties to the performance-enhancing drugs clinic." You can read that HERE.
According to reports, Bosch has agreed to testify against MLB players. Both those listed, and those who, up until now, only appear as code names. Considering many players on the list are facing their second violation, they may be looking at a 100 game suspension.
This entire thing is mind boggling to me. These aren't children, armed with no knowledge. These are adult males, who know very well that the usage of drugs in sports, and over all, is illegal, and can have dangerous effects on your body. Yet, if true, they knowingly risk their health, and the integrity of their careers, for a few moments of glory.
The worse part is, whether we like it or not, these men are role models to our children. They are what young boys aspire to become. How am I supposed to look my sons in the face, and encourage that kind of hero worship, knowing that these men cheated? Casey has written on BYB about having the steroid users make a public service announcement. Read PEDs... AND WHAT SHOULD COME NEXT. It makes perfect sense to me. Something as simple as them going "I cheated. I am not a role model. Do not look up to me."
We can expect to learn the rest of the names on the list fairly soon. If the players do get a suspension, it is likely they will appeal it. So, this is not the end of this story. There is still a long way to go before this is over with. I'm hoping that the MLB sends a strong message with this one.
