PAIN FREE BUT HUGHES MAY MISS START OF THE SEASON

It was tweeted by Meredith Marakovits earlier today that although Phil Hughes feels good and is "pain free", it doesn't matter.  The truth is Hughes hasn't started throwing again and they are taking things very, very slowly. The ESPN report on this is HERE. Meredith's tweet is below:

I don't like the sound of this.  a bulging disk in the back (Read HUGHES HAS A BULGE & IT'S NOT THE GOOD ONE LADIES) is an issue for a pitcher.  When asked about how things were going, Hughes said "Every day is a day lost."  Frustration, I get that. Bottom line, he's waiting for doctors to give him clearance. Once he has that, he will throw again.

That's the update.  I hate writing about injury, but I'm trying to keep a positive face on this, it's the Spring.  You want this happening now if you need it to happen at all.  If anything new happens, we'll tell you.
