Great piece in today's USA Today and Bob Nightengale has the story HERE in reference to Giancarlo Stanton and his continued frustration with the Miami Marlins ownership. Is he furious? Not really, but still upset, but I give the guy credit, he answered the questions and didn't walk away. Check it out...
Nightengale writes: "Stanton hears the rumors, knows what has already transpired, but refuses to publicly show his frustration with the organization's upheaval.
'All of the spotlight was on us last year,' Stanton, 23, told USA TODAY Sports. 'This year, it will be like all of the other previous years.'..."
"...'My preparation will be the same,' he said, 'so there's no difference for me.'
'I'm preparing the same way I do every year.'
Stanton's name surfaced in trade rumors this winter, but while Marlins vice president Dan Jennings said the organization will always listen to proposals, Stanton is expected to stay.
'People take everything out of proportion,' Stanton says, 'everybody loves to stir something. If you listen to everything you hear, there's a lot of different directions you'd be leaning.'..."
I'm not blowing anything out of proportion suggesting that if the price is right for Stanton though, that he will be traded. I believe that. That being said, kudos to Nightengale for getting Stanton's thoughts from him in his own words and great job by Stanton for having such great composure when asked specifically about that chaotic trade situation in Miami. He's alright in my book!
