Brett Gardner is close to returning after his elbow injury
put him on the DL April 18th. I’m
looking forward to it considering guys like Andruw Jones, Eduardo Nunez and
Jayson Nix are running around out there in left field. Not to mention DeWayneWise who was recently called up. It’s
nuts to think about how underrated Brett Gardner is. When when he goes down… it takes 4 guys to
rotate in that position. Gardner should
be smiling, he’s needed back, no doubt about it.
The latest news is he was slated to start his rehab assignment tonight in
AAA. Wally Matthews of ESPN reported that HERE. He said Joe Girardi believed Gardy just needed a
few games in the minors before he comes back to the Yanks. then came word from mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News HERE that he'll have to wait...there was a rainout tonight. So Gardy will now start his rehab tomorrow and won't be off the DL until at least Thursday.
Look... hopefully it all goes smoothly. We could use Gardner’s speed and glove to
jump start the Yankees. Yes, it’s true,
the return of Nick Swisher was huge and I believe assisted in their win against
the Royals on Sunday, but having a healthy Yankee outfield that has truly meshed really helps, believe it or not... it's about rhythm. GGS needs to get
reunited and kick some ass! I know the return of Gardy will help that.
